Not Just Your Ordinary Eggs

Those cute little chicks that we adopted when we went to the Pumpkin Patch in October finally started laying eggs! Since we've been home from Spring Break, Carli is so excited to wake up everyday (which definitely helps my morning) and go check for the eggs. We have run into a small problem though. The cutest little yellow chick that Carli named "Sunshine" turned out to be a rooster. We told her we need to give the two roosters away because we don't want any more baby chicks and she is devastated. I know... it's just a silly rooster but that is the one that she picked to be hers and she doesn't want to give it up. So maybe Del will deal with that this weekend.

It was so fun to come home to such great weather. It actually felt a little hot after being in Ohio. I will say that I already am missing the trees back there but that might be the only thing I am missing...except for Del, of course! He'll be home tomorrow.

What are girls to do on a rainy day?

It rained all day so not much to do. I hope it doesn't keep raining because it seems like I spend a lot of money when we plan indoor activities.(shopping, pedicures, more shopping) Lindsey and I are getting massages. She has been wanting one for so long and it is hard to find a place to do kids. There is a place across from the apartment that will do both of us in one room. I think it is meant to be a romantic couple massage but it works for us. She is so excited. I need to break the news that I don't really like to chit chat while I'm getting a massage.

Ice Skating

The girls and I went ice skating yesterday. It sure looks easier than it is! Sydnee and Lindsey were great but Carli had never tried. She was a little timid at first but there was a really nice lady that worked there that helped us and they had a few little "tools" to help little ones on the ice. One funny thing that happened... I had an idea that Sydnee, Lindsey, and I should race around the rink. Sydnee didn't want to race all together so she had the idea to use the stop watch on my phone and time each other. Sydnee goes first - then Lindsey - then me. They both did great so I was thinking I had to be pretty fast. I started out fine but took a spill. They laughed so hard. Luckily, no injuries but a bit of a bruise on my hip. I have to admit, it was pretty funny.

Spring Break

NYC - so much fun! The trip started out a little stressful as Ohio had a huge blizzard and Del didn't make it to New York to meet me and the girls as planned. He finally made it a day late. I wasn't too excited to be there without him. Steve and Jeannette Wilson were there with their kids and we spent the day with them doing some fun stuff. We saw the Statue of Liberty and went to the World Trade Center site. There is a small museum there and they are building new towers. I was so glad my kids got to see that. There were so many things in the museum that really helped them understand what happened and how terrible it was. I forget that my kids were so young and had heard lots about it but really didn't quite understand what happened. Carli was such a trooper. We walked so much and she was really good. It might have been because she was half frozen. It was colder than I thought it would be. We had so much fun going to the big Hershey store in Times Square. There is a TV show called Project Runway and the girls and I love to watch it. One challenge the designers had was to create a look made from materials they had gathered from that store. Some of the outfits were displayed in the store. It is the red outfit behind the girls and the bodice is made out of licorice! Pretty amazing to see. I also found out that Sydnee has a really, really sensitive nose! The first time we rode the subway I thought she was going to throw up. Some subways are smellier than others. We solved the problem by giving her a wet wipe to hold and she held it up in front of her face so that is all she could smell. It is definitely a different way of life there. Lindsey really wanted to visit the Metropolitan Museum of Art because they read a book in school about it so we took a cab up there only to find out it was closed to the public that day! Bummer... We'll have to go back again. Grandma Marci came on Sunday night and spent the day with us on Monday. Del and I were glad to have two extra hands on Canal Street. We rented a car and drove to Ohio on Tuesday. Sydnee asked Del if there was a forest fire because all of the trees had no leaves! Pretty funny. I guess my kids are going to get used to seeing a lot more trees. Ohio was only about 7 hours away from NYC and when we got to Del's apartment there was an awesome snowman that someone had made. It's one of the best ones I've seen. (not like I've seen that many, though) We have been looking at lots of houses. I had to leave for a short jaunt to Vegas because my grandma died. I went back just for two days for the funeral and I'm back here in Ohio again. The snow is just about melted and it seems like Spring is trying to arrive. I'm getting ready to break out the flip flops. We all get claustrophobic in our Uggs and are ready for some warmer weather.
