Carli's "Beary" Fun Day

I've been trying to decide what to do for Carli's birthday this year. I'm not a big fan of having a huge birthday party every year and since she is still rolling around in her wheelchair we thought we would do something more simple. She decided she wanted to go to Build a Bear! Carli picked out a cute Husky Dog and an outfit. It was so fun for her. She loves that place. The older girls were good sports and wheeled her around the store to pick her stuff out but they were really dying to go to stores they were interested in. It was fun to be together and Carli had a great time. She is being such a great sport about her leg. We love her and can't believe she is going to be 6 this week!

Now I REALLY live with a lot of "chics"

Wednesday night, we went to the pumpking patch on Gilbert and Baseline. It was a pretty quick ordeal. We were pretty much in and out. We didn't make a big long night of it and go do all the rides and maze and stuff. We just went to get pumpkins. As we were checking out, we noticed a small coop of baby chickens. They were for sale for $5.00 each. We have been talking about getting chickens for several months now. My parents have chickens, my aunt and uncle have chickens. We just have been waiting for who knows what. We got in the car to leave when Sydnee, Lindsey and I went back in to buy a couple. Yes we bought two baby chics. We figured we could keep them in an old kennel of Mojo's for a while until we can figure out something more permanent. Carli started to get upset that "she" didn't have her own chicken so Jen and I told her that in the morning we would go and get one more so there would be three; one for each of our kids. Jen and I also made a trip to Higley Feed to get some pine shavings, food, waterers, feeders etc. So then we started thinking about where we would build a coop. I drove up to my aunt Wendi's house to talk to her a bit about her birds, and decided I would just put together a chain link coop like she did. Nothing fancy. I then started thinking that as long as we were going to build this big coop, and have 3 chickens, we might as well REALLY get chickens. So I went to Mesa Feeed Barn and bought 7 more. So now we have 10 chickens. I went to Home Depot and got the chain link and stayed out back until about 9:00 putting the coop together. Now we just need to make sure we keep Mojo out of the coop. So for everyone that jokes that we live on a farm, now we really do....

Here are some pictures:

Future Tennis Star

Sydnee played in a tennis tournament today at Gene Autry in Mesa. She wasn't feeling very good but she still played well. We were proud of her for even finishing the tournament given her condition. She is really getting good.

Carli's First Set of Wheels

No, not a car of course, but a wheelchair. The crutches weren't working out so well, so we decided to get her a wheelchair. It's working out much better. Here are some picture of her from today.

It's hard to know...

How can you really tell when your kids have a broken bone? I hate to overreact and rush them to the ER everytime they fall after regular pediatrician hours but then you fell pretty guilty when you let them go all night plus a few hours and then finally take them in because they still can't straighten their leg the next day. How do you really know.... It was a long day but so far she is doing fine. 6 weeks on crutches is going to get old really fast. They wouldn't put a swimming cast on it because it is too big. I'm still hoping they will put one on right before we leave for Hawaii in 5 weeks but he said probably not. Oh well, there are definately worse things in life! I'm so grateful it was only a broken leg. Kids scare me soooo bad! I thought boys were the ones that always broke bones. So far every single on of our kids has broken something!

Another one bites the dust

The pictures pretty much tell the story I think. Carli broke her leg. She was on the trampoline while I was out of town. (see my blog www.deltanner.com for more info on where I was) I ended up having to come home early to help out. She can't walk on her leg for 6 weeks. Her leg is broken below her knee. School is going to be really interesting. Not to mention Hawaii next month. These next few weeks should be very interesting for all of us but especially Jen. Tomorrow Jen is going to have to go to school to help her go to the bathroom. We think we may paint the crutches pink and bling them out. Thanks to everyone who has called and come by.
