Happy 13th Birthday Sydnee

Sydnee turned 13! How can she (I) be this old? The night before her birthday Del took her out and some of her friends came over and decorated her room. I'm not sure why all of that text was underlined?!? They did signs and posters and balloons and somehow all ended up wearing her hats and shoes. I love this group of girls - they are awesome!

This was Sydnee when she got home and walked into her room! Surprise!
I picked her and some friends up from school at lunch and took them to lunch and to the cupcake shop. I wish I would have taken more pictures.
She had a great birthday and her friends were so thoughtful with the gifts they gave to her. Happy Birthday Sydnee!

Spring is coming

This is a picture I took a few weeks ago of some of my spring flowers starting to come up. They had lots of bulbs in the yard already and Lindsey and I planted lots more so it should be fun to see what comes up. This is our first spring here and everyday I see new things starting to bloom. I'm so ready to have leaves back on the trees. I've heard spring weather can be very unpredictable so I hope we like it. I'm pretty much planning on one last snow storm so I don't freak out if it happens in April or May!

Cake Auction Fundraiser

The youth at church had a cake auction/talent show to rasie money for their summer camps. Del helped Lindsey and some friends make a video to the B 52's Rock Lobster. It was so creative and I'll try to get a link on here later. I helped Sydnee do these cakes below. We had some really amazing cakes show up and the kids earned quite a bit of money for their camps.

This is one of the cakes we ended up with when the night was over. It is hard to tell but the entire outside and the bowl that is on top of the cake was made from chocolate. The bowl was filled with yummy whip cream. I think the lady that made it called this the "Hope Floats" cake. It looked like the bowl that says HOPE (in chocolate) was floating on top.

Family Night

Our school district had a "Ready Set Relax" night where they cancelled all activities, practices, and games and encouraged families to take a 'time out' and spend the evening together without any distractions. Sound familiar? It was quite nice! Even though we try to set Monday night aside for just that, things have a way of creeping in.

Poor Mojo

Poor Mojo! I guess when you are surrounded by little girls they do mean things to you like make you wear a bra! At least they do it do Mojo and not Del!

Another reason why he looks so humiliated in this picture is because he had just gotten a hair cut and the lady shaved him almost bald on his stomach! What was she thinking? Poor guy-

Daisy Troop

Sydnee and Lindsey never did Girl Scouts and I always thought it started with Brownies but apparently there are Daisies as well. We have a cute little group of girls in the neighborhood that are in 1st grade and two very motivated moms who take care of this troop. A few weeks ago they went to the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame in downtown Cleveland for a visit and a "Girls Rock" themed day! I of course had been procrastinating about buying the bright blue smock but Carli begged and finally I made the purchase. Luckily the petals are iron on! (if not they would most definitely be glued, not sewn) She had a great time and told me lots of fun facts about Elvis and others.

Cozumel

I LOVE LOVE LOVE THIS! (Especially when we fly in from 30 degree weather)
The boat conveniently pulled up to this dock every morning to pick us up for our dives.

Del and I went to Cozumel, Mexico last week for a few days. It was a relaxing trip with lots of good diving, great company, and great weather. We did one night dive the day we got there and then dove the next two mornings. Saturday we rented scooters and rode around the island and hung out at a little beach bar in the middle of nowhere. I love it down there! It is so beautiful and there are always quirky little things about Mexico that I just have to laugh at. For some reason, I have Shawni's pictures on my laptop but not the ones that Del took so I'm just going to post a few for now and I will post more later.
We estimated Pedro (our dive master) to be MAYBE 5 feet tall! He was pretty funny. It was really funny when he stood next to Shawni and Dave!

This is at the beach at Bob Marleys. We hung out there for a couple of hours. Melissa and I had a shrimp quesidilla with some yummy quacamole, Del got an hour massage for about 30 bucks, we read a little, and took some naps in the hammocks. Does it get any better?
