Lucky

I'm feeling very lucky right now after having such a great day. It didn't start until about 11 :00 when I woke up. I never do that but it felt so good. I came down here to go see Les Miserables (my favorite play) with my mother in law at the beautiful Fox Theatre and I figured since I was going to be here I might as well get my hair done because I haven't really found anyone in Ohio. Adrian (think Franc from Father of the Bride) was FABULOUS! Two neck massages, one hand massage, a scalp massage, and four hours later I was walking out of there just in time to make it to the play. Marci, Jared and Tiffany brought me my clothes to change into and a great dinner to eat in the car on the way because it took too long and I missed eating with them. I've never eaten a wedge salad and a steak in the back seat of a Honda - pretty interesting! I don't know what it is about that musical but it really touches me. I love the story and I am always amazed that someone can have that much talent to be on a stage in front of a huge crowd belting those beautiful songs out. I'm so glad I got to see it again and thanks to Del for flying solo this weekend. I really do feel lucky because I know days like this are few and far between.

Weather Weather Weather!

I guess we got a bit of Ike winds up here in Ohio last night. I had to give my friend Melinda a ride to her car and it was a little windy when we left. About an hour later I got home and it was pretty windy but still not horrible. I got home and Del was in the front yard flying a kite with Sydnee. Our neighbors came and and asked us what in the world we were doing out in the Wizard of Oz weather! I think she thought we were crazy. It got worse so we decided to go in and get dinner going. Luckily we were bbq-ing and our stove is gas because we lost power and had a nice candlelit dinner minus the nice table set up. (it's hard to see what you are even putting on your burger without much light) The wind kept howling and it was raining leaves. We have them everywhere and big branches were flying everywhere. I can't imagine being in a real tropical storm or hurricane! The power finally came back on and we thought all was well until I read my email this morning and realized Carli's school is canceled because of roof damage. Crazy stuff! This is probably the first of many weather related posts.

Missing Paige

We are really missing Paige! Lindsey is missing her dearly! Paige gave Lindsey a cute book with lots of pictures and great memories when we moved. At night when I go check on Lindsey in her bed it is usually on the pillow next to her. This morning when I walked in her room she had made her bed and this is how it looked. It really breaks my heart. I'm sure these two will always be close.

Kayaking at the Jensen's house

Our neighborhood has a lot of lakes and our friends happen to live on one. The girls like to go over to their house and practice their kayaking skills It's fun to watch them try to navigate around the little lake. It takes lots of teamwork and a little bit of balance when they are getting in and out.

Visitors

My friend Kelli came last weekend with her little boy Dillan. I have know her since kindergarten and she is part of my Vegas crew that I have grown up with and stay very close to. Her little boy is 4 and the girls had so much fun with him. It was strange to have a little boy in the house! Kelli and I spent Saturday shopping and eating. Doesn't get much better than that!
They wore themselves out. This is how they looked when we got home.

Let's Play Doctor

Carli decided that Mojo was sick and needed a little extra TLC. She got out her vet kit and Mojo was a great sport to go along with it.

Back to School

The girls started school last week. I was nervous putting Lindsey and Carli on the bus in the morning as they have never ridden the bus to school. Sydnee leaves quite early and she has been so good about getting up. The first day of school she accidentally went to the 8th grade lunch for a bit and also she went to the wrong class! She got all of the logistics worked out on day 2. She has practice or a game every day and on game days that are away she has a 12 hour day! Lindsey came home from school so excited. She loved it and thinks it is the greatest thing that she gets a locker. Carli didn't have too much to say except that she thought it was fun. I'm feeling like I can get some more organizing done now that they are back in school. My house is really quiet but it does stay clean all day!

This is how Mojo looks every morning when we are waiting for the bus. He is sad that all of the excitement is gone for 8 hours a day.

Sydnee - putting the finishing touches on her back to school look!
Waiting for the bus with Katie and Allison.
I took a picture of this to remember how beautiful the weather was. Actually a little chilly and fall like temperatures. Quite a difference from late in July or early August in AZ. I wasn't worried about the heat! I was more worried that Carli would be cold without a sweatshirt.
